| Cades Cove Campout/Biking | 01/11/2008 | This was a great campout. It was clear and cold at night, and the stars were beautiful. On Saturday, we biked the 11 mile loop, visited historic buildings, and Mr. Nunley cooked us lunch. |
| Smokies Day Hike | 02/16/2008 | We are planning on a six mile hike that starts at the Tremont Center in the Smokies. We'll park cars at the other end of the trail, so we hike one way. We'll eat lunch along the way, hopefully at one of the designated backcountry camping spots. |
| AMSE Nuclear Science Merit Badge | 04/12/2008 | This will be a day outing to the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge. The scouts will earn the Nuclear Science Merit Badge. |
| Backpacking - Cooking Skills | 04/19/2008 | This will be a backpacking trip with a focus on backpacking cooking skills. Mr. Nunley will share some of his famous backpacking recipes, and teach us how to plan for them, prepare them, and cook them. This will help us eat better on all of our future backpacking trips. The location hasn't been decided yet. |
| Memorial Day Service Project/Day Hike | 05/24/2008 | For our Memorial Day service project, we planned to place flags on the headstones at the Veteran's cemetery like we did last year, but we had a miscommunication, and arrived too late to help. |
| National Trails Day- Service Project | 06/07/2008 | Last year, we participated in National Trails Day, and had a great time. We worked hard to maintain a mile of the Appalachian Trail near the Icewater Springs shelter in the Smokies. At the end of the day, the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club fed us all the BBQ we could eat, and gave out lots of prizes. We enjoyed it so much, we signed up again this year. |
| Summer Camp- Camp Buck Toms | 06/15/2008 | June 16- 20 is summer camp time at good ol' Camp Buck Toms, and we can hardly wait to eat that great camp food and sleep in deluxe accommodations. This year, we'll earn so many merit badges, they can hardly be counted. |
| Canoe Trip- Mammoth Cave, KY | 07/25/2008 | This trip will be July 25-27, and we plan to go canoeing at Mammoth Cave State Park . While we are there, we hope to tour the cave as well. We will leave Friday morning, and return Sunday evening. |
| Day Hike- Charlie's Bunion | 08/16/2008 | This is a day hike to Charlie's Bunion, along the Appalachian Trail in the Smokies. As a part of this trip, we'll also be serving the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club by carrying mulch to Icewater Springs shelter for the privy. |
| Canoeing- Slick Rock Creek | 09/20/2008 | September 20 and 21. Canoeing- Slick Rock Creek. One of our favorites. |
| Backpacking Trip | 10/25/2008 | October 25 -26 will be a backpacking trip. We don't know exactly where as of today, but we're guessing we'll backpack in the woods somewhere, and can use some of the cooking skills we learned earlier in the year. |
| Annual Planning Retreat | 11/21/2008 | On November 21 and 22, we'll have our annual planning retreat where we look back over the last year, and ahead to the next. |
| Knox Area Rescue Ministries- Service Project | 12/20/2008 | This will be our second year of serving dinner at KARM. |
